ADDITIONAL INFO FOR APPLICANTS:

The selected candidate must have current work authorization in the United States. This position is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship. Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or Equivalent with IT certification or 1 year of relevant work experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field involving software and analytical training.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Proven experience as a Security Engineer or similar role with strong knowledge of network security principles, protocols, and best practices.
  • Experience with SIEM tools such as SPLUNK and forensic tools like FTK and Forensic Explorer.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with security compliance standards and regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and analyze access logs using advanced SIEM software such as Sentinel, ReliaQuest Greymatter, Palo Alto Panorama, and Fair Warning patient privacy intelligence systems.
  • Provide incident response for security incidents utilizing SIEM tools like Sentinel and forensic tools like FTK and Forensic Explorer.
  • Support and mentor less experienced IT and security staff during investigations.
  • Conduct investigations for Human Resources, University Audit and Compliance, USF General Counsel, and USF Office of Research as needed.
  • Design, test, and implement secure operating systems, networks, and databases, including creating security baselines and configurations based on data security classifications.
  • Perform risk audits and assessments, providing recommendations in line with standards such as NIST 800-171, HIPAA, and FERPA. Use automated tools like Rapid7 and Azure Security Portal to develop risk profiles for systems.
