The selected candidate must have current work authorization in the United States. This position is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship. Requirements include a High School Diploma or Equivalent with IT certification or 1-year relevant work experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field involving software and analytical training.

  • Proven experience as a Security Engineer or in a similar role, with strong knowledge of network security principles, protocols, and best practices.
  • Experience with SIEM tools such as SPLUNK and forensic tools like FTK and Forensic Explorer.

  • Familiarity with security compliance standards and regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and analyze access logs using advanced SIEM software such as Sentinel, ReliaQuest Greymatter, Palo Alto Panorama, and Fair Warning Patient Privacy Intelligence, including management of these systems.
  • Provide incident response for security incidents utilizing SIEM tools like Sentinel and forensic tools such as FTK and Forensic Explorer.
  • Support and mentor less experienced IT and security staff during investigations.
  • Conduct investigations for Human Resources, University Audit and Compliance, USF General Counsel, and the Office of Research as needed.
  • Design, test, and implement secure operating systems, networks, and databases, including creating security baselines for operating systems, applications, firewall configurations, database access, and data encryption based on security classifications.
  • Perform risk audits and assessments, offering recommendations for application, system, and network security, including compliance with standards such as NIST 800-171, HIPAA, and FERPA, using tools like Rapid7 and Azure Security Portal.
