Job summary

Scale is seeking a Detection Engineer to engineer, test, and deploy detection logic across cloud and on-prem environments, treating detections as software with version control and peer review.

You will build incident response automation, improve telemetry pipelines, and conduct digital investigations to identify and contain breaches. Strong scripting, cloud security, and threat knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Detection Engineering, Incident Response, or Security Operations.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python or Go) and ability to write production-grade code.
• Experience designing or improving detection pipelines and alerting in cloud environments.
• Hands-on with SIEM, EDR, and SOAR; prefer integrations built programmatically.
• Strong understanding of modern cyber threats and adversary TTPs.
• Familiarity with digital forensics and malware analysis.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, test, and deploy detection logic across cloud and enterprise environments with version control and peer review.
• Build and maintain incident response automation, runbooks, and tooling to reduce containment timelines.
• Mature telemetry pipelines with improved schemas and data quality to reduce false positives.
• Perform digital incident investigations and malware analysis to understand attack vectors.
• Integrate alerting with messaging and ticketing systems for fast, traceable response workflows.
• Collaborate with IT, security, and engineering to harden identity, logging, and guardrails.
