Job summary

Verizon is seeking a Security Engineer to oversee a fleet of 900+ Suricata IDS sensors across data centers. You will engineer telemetry pipelines with Logstash, craft IDS rules, and automate vulnerability management using Python and Bash.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of work experience.
4+ years of relevant security engineering experience.
Enterprise Linux systems administration (RHEL, Rocky, CentOS).
Network traffic and protocol analysis (tcpdump, pcap, Wireshark, BPF).
Python or scripting for infrastructure and backend automation.
Hands-on experience with enterprise physical server hardware and data center fiber.

Responsibilities

Orchestrate the operational lifecycle of 900+ Suricata IDS sensors.
Develop and refine Logstash configurations for telemetry accuracy.
Engineer and deploy custom Suricata IDS rules and signatures.
Automate the vulnerability management pipeline with Python/Bash.
Manage Dell server hardware lifecycle including iDRAC and firmware updates.
Handle data center logistics including cabling, optics, and rack-space management.
