Job summary

COUNTY OF DANE is seeking Security Support Specialists to work on 2nd shift (2:30p-10:30p) or 3rd shift (10:30p-6:30a) with a rotating 6-on/2-off schedule and two 3-day weekends every 5th week. This role supports Dane County Jails by monitoring access points, dispatching security instructions, and providing public assistance.

Candidates should be able to pass background checks, have CPR certification, and be willing to work nights, weekends, and overtime as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of full-time work experience preferred.
• Ability to perform data entry with high accuracy (keyboard speeds and accuracy mentioned in postings).
• Background investigations, fingerprinting, and CPR/Time System certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

• Receive, dispatch, and monitor communications for sworn and civilian staff.
• Operate centralized control rooms and fingerprinting stations; manage resident property and jail supplies.
• Coordinate movement of staff, residents, and visitors; supervise visits and assist with evacuations.
• Provide customer service to the public and document security incidents and investigations.
