  • Experience in personnel security, physical security, access control, classified information, or secure-facility operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CCURE/security software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Ability to complete required security-awareness and Level I OPSEC training within 30 days.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate security documentation.
  • Effective written and verbal communication; professional relationships with Government personnel and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Process visitor access requests and visit notifications and provide escorts within secure areas.
  • Coordinate personnel security in-processing and out-processing with appropriate access privileges.
  • Review PARs and assist with active security-clearance processing with the Government Security Manager.
  • Receive, log, safeguard, distribute, and track classified mail and media.
  • Handle and destroy classified materials per DoD requirements.
  • Coordinate classified VTC bridge requests and support for classified conferences.
  • Resolve secure communications and connectivity issues with maintenance/technical staff.
  • Develop and deliver security training and awareness presentations.
  • Maintain security training documentation and attendance records.
  • Monitor surveillance and physical-security systems during operations.
  • Respond to security alerts and incidents with appropriate investigations.
  • Document security activities in official records systems (SF 701/702).
  • End-of-day security checks and compliance with DoD/Air Force policies.

Overview: The Junior Security Coordinator will support secure operations for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson AFB, helping protect classified information, personnel, facilities, and mission-critical activities. This position supports personnel security, physical security, document control, visitor access, classified communications, and security incident response across multiple secure facilities. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced military security professional to apply their background in a high-impact DoD environment supporting advanced Air Force research and technology programs.

Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Process visitor access requests and visit notifications and provide escorts within secure and restricted areas.
  • Coordinate personnel security in-processing and out-processing, ensuring appropriate access privileges are established and removed accurately and on time.
  • Review and process Program Access Requests (PARs) and assist with active security-clearance processing actions in coordination with the Government Security Manager.
  • Receive, log, safeguard, distribute, and track classified mail, courier packages, electronic file transfers, faxes, and magnetic media.
  • Handle and destroy classified materials in accordance with applicable Department of Defense security requirements and procedures.
  • Coordinate classified Video Teleconference (VTC) bridge requests and provide end-user support for classified conferences.
  • Work with maintenance and technical personnel to resolve secure communications and connectivity issues.
  • Develop and deliver security training and security-awareness presentations to personnel supporting secure operations.
  • Maintain accurate security training and attendance documentation.
  • Monitor surveillance camera and physical-security systems during operational hours.
  • Respond promptly to security alerts, notifications, and potential incidents and initiate appropriate investigative procedures.
  • Document security activities and incidents in official record systems, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Perform required end-of-day security checks and maintain SF 701 and SF 702 documentation.
  • Support classified accountability and document-control requirements across multiple secure areas and facilities.
  • Maintain strict compliance with Department of Defense and Air Force security policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance required.
  • Six years of military security experience required.

  • Favorably completed Tier 1 (T1) or National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) investigation necessary for Restricted Area Badge issuance.
  • Experience supporting personnel security, physical security, access control, classified information, or secure-facility operations.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Intermediate proficiency with CCURE or comparable physical access-control/security software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and ability to troubleshoot basic software and administrative-system issues independently.
  • Ability to complete required security-awareness and Level I Operations Security (OPSEC) training within 30 days.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate security documentation and records.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional working relationships with Government personnel, employees, visitors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Formal Department of Defense security manager, physical security, personnel security, or industrial security training.
  • Familiarity with Air Force security requirements, including AFMAN 16-1404 and AFMAN 16-1406.
  • Experience with SF 700, SF 701, and SF 702 procedures.
  • Experience with classified material accountability and document-control systems.
  • Previous experience supporting security operations within an Air Force, DoD, or other federal secure environment.
  • Experience supporting classified meetings, conferences, or secure communications environments.
