Job summary

Overview

The Journeyman Intelligence Support Analyst will research, analyze, and synthesize intelligence from diverse classified and unclassified sources in support of Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) mission and technology‑protection requirements. This position develops intelligence assessments, briefings, and analytical products that provide Government and program leadership with actionable insights supporting critical research, acquisition, security, and technology decisions. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Intelligence Community professional to apply their analytical tradecraft in a highly technical defense environment. The role combines traditional intelligence analysis with Open‑Source Intelligence (OSINT), Acquisition Intelligence (ACQINT), and Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) to help identify threats, vulnerabilities, and risks to advanced Air Force technologies and programs.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Research, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate intelligence from diverse classified and unclassified information sources.
• Develop intelligence assessments, reports, briefings, and other analytical products supporting AFRL mission requirements.
• Produce intelligence products that meet Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 203 Analytic Standards and established Intelligence Community tradecraft requirements.
• Apply Open‑Source Intelligence (OSINT) techniques and principles to research and analytical assignments.
• Apply Acquisition Intelligence (ACQINT) principles to assessments supporting DoD research, development, acquisition, and technology programs.
• Incorporate Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) principles into intelligence assessments supporting technology protection and program security.
• Identify and communicate relevant threats, vulnerabilities, risks, and intelligence findings affecting mission and technology‑protection priorities.
• Deliver accurate, clear, and defensible intelligence products within established Government deadlines.
• Develop and present classified intelligence briefings to Government personnel, program teams, and other authorized stakeholders.
• Support classified meetings, briefings, conferences, and related intelligence operations as required.
• Safeguard, handle, and maintain accountability of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and other classified materials in accordance with applicable security requirements.
• Coordinate with the Government Security Manager, program personnel, and other stakeholders to align intelligence activities with mission priorities.
• Respond to Government intelligence taskings and reporting requirements while maintaining high standards for accuracy, sourcing, analytic rigor, and clarity.
• Maintain strict compliance with Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, and Air Force security and information‑handling requirements.

Qualifications

• Active U.S. Government TS/SCI security clearance required at time of appointment.
• Active clearance must be appropriately recorded in the Defense Information System for Security (DISS).
• Six years of Intelligence Community (IC) experience required.
• U.S. citizenship required; permanent residency does not meet program requirements.
• Demonstrated experience researching, analyzing, and synthesizing classified and unclassified intelligence information.
• Experience developing intelligence assessments, reports, briefings, or other finished intelligence products.
• Working knowledge of Intelligence Community analytic standards and tradecraft.
• Intermediate proficiency with Open‑Source Intelligence (OSINT) principles and methodologies.
• Intermediate proficiency with Acquisition Intelligence (ACQINT) principles.
• Intermediate proficiency with Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) principles.
• Experience working with classified information and Sensitive Compartmented Information within established security requirements.
• Expert‑level proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams.
• Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and ability to independently troubleshoot basic software and administrative‑system issues.
• Ability to complete required security‑awareness and Level I Operations Security (OPSEC) training within 30 days.
• Strong research, critical‑thinking, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex intelligence findings clearly and concisely.
• Ability to work professionally and collaboratively with Government personnel, security professionals, technical teams, and program stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Intelligence Studies, International Affairs, National Security, Political Science, or a related field.
• Formal Intelligence Community analytic‑tradecraft training aligned with ICD 203.
• Previous experience supporting Department of Defense intelligence operations.
• Experience supporting a DoD research, development, engineering, or acquisition organization.
• Intelligence experience supporting technology‑protection or program‑security missions.
• Experience integrating OSINT, ACQINT, and SCRM information into finished intelligence assessments.
• Prior Air Force or Air Force Research Laboratory intelligence experience.
• Experience briefing intelligence findings to Government, technical, acquisition, or senior leadership audiences.
