Job summary

Rancher Government Solutions seeks a Senior Solutions Architect to lead the technical strategy and win-work for DoD, IC, and civilian programs. You’ll engage with customer stakeholders to translate mission requirements into validated architectures using Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies.

You will design reference architectures, deliver POCs and demos, and ensure security/compliance across DoD and federal environments. Strong communication to both engineers and executives is essential.

Qualifications

• Deep hands-on experience with on prem Kubernetes and its ecosystem (CNCF tooling, Helm, Prometheus, GitOps frameworks, etc.).
• Strong background in DevOps, automation, and infrastructure-as-code (Ansible, Terraform, ArgoCD, Flux, etc.).
• Advanced Linux systems knowledge across distributions (SUSE, RHEL, Ubuntu).
• Familiarity with container runtimes, networking, storage, and security in production environments.
• Experience architecting or operating in cloud and hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, on‑prem).
• Proven ability to design and articulate solutions that meet customer objectives.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with technical and executive audiences.
• Experience with U.S. Government customers and pre-sales technical roles.
• U.S. Citizen and eligible for a U.S. Security Clearance.
• Residence within the Continental U.S.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery, architecture design, and solution validation within assigned accounts.
• Present Rancher Government Solutions offerings and demonstrate how they solve customer pain points.
• Develop and deliver POCs, demos, and reference architectures leveraging Rancher, RKE2, and Harvester.
• Provide technical leadership during proposals, ensuring alignment with DoD/IC security requirements.
• Partner with account executives on GTM strategy, pipeline, and QBRs.
• Mentor junior engineers and represent RGS at industry events.
