Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician to maintain and operate critical infrastructure in our secure Virginia data centers. You will handle diesel generators, 3‑phase electrical systems, UPS, chillers, cooling towers, and related equipment.

The role involves preventative maintenance, responding to facility events, and collaborating with engineers globally to test emerging technologies that support cloud computing demands.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years electrical or mechanical experience or data center facilities experience.
• Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility (US).

Responsibilities

• Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.
• Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS).
• Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal SLA.
• Perform rack installations and decommissioning within internal SLA.
• PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Technical writing to support change management program.
• Monitor daily work requests and manage to resolution, executing projects from conception to completion.
• On-site support of contractors and vendors, ensuring work complies with practices and local regulations.
