Job description

Shift will be Friday and Saturday, 10:00pm - 8:30am.

PURPOSE: Ensure the safety and security of everyone at Mall of America by performing security procedures at the Loading Dock and Gate 7 checkpoints.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Maintain accountability of all personnel and vehicles entering Gate 7 or the Loading Dock.
  • Responsible for safety and security of Gate 7 and the Loading Dock.
  • Operation of Gate 7 arms and barriers, as well as the Loading Dock door.
  • Vet contractors, vendors and others entering MOA property through security checkpoints.
  • Inspect incoming vehicles of contractors, vendors and others using resources provided.
  • Manage paperwork for Mall access badges, hot work permits, and all administrative responsibilities for checkpoint operations.
  • Issue and track preferred contractor and vendor badges.
  • Give directions to vendors and contractors to locations within Mall of America and the surrounding area.
  • Utilize radio to request assistance from other MOA Security units or external agencies at checkpoints as needed.
  • Work additional duties including Patrol support, PEP enforcement, traffic control, crowd and line control, roof details, and bag checks as assigned.
  • Work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, holidays, high volume days, mandatory overtime and short notice special events.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Excellent listening and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to remain calm in stressful situations utilizing rational thinking and decision making skills.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to multi-task.
  • Must be observant and safety minded.
  • Basic computer skills.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the officer will Occasionally be required to speak and listen to guests in order to understand their needs and communicate a solution. Officers must also possess a level of hearing that will continuously allow them to be aware of their surroundings and recognize when a guest needs their attention. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Officers are required to be able to tolerate multiple sensory stimuli at once while performing their duties. These stimuli may include: loud auditory/noise, smells/olfactory, hot/cold temperatures, bright lights, colors, motion, and other visual stimuli.

Starting pay:

$18.50
