This range is provided by Mall of America. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range

$18.50/hr - $18.50/hr

Shift will be Friday and Saturday, 10:00pm - 8:30am.

Purpose

Ensure the safety and security of everyone at Mall of America by performing security procedures at the Loading Dock and Gate 7 checkpoints.

Essential Duties
  1. Maintain accountability of all personnel and vehicles entering Gate 7 or the Loading Dock.
  2. Responsible for safety and security of Gate 7 and the Loading Dock.
  3. Operate Gate 7 arms and barriers, as well as the Loading Dock door.
  4. Vet contractors, vendors and others entering MOA property through security checkpoints.
  5. Inspect incoming vehicles of contractors, vendors and others using resources provided.
  6. Manage paperwork for Mall access badges, hot work permits, and all administrative responsibilities for checkpoint operations.
  7. Issue and track preferred contractor and vendor badges.
  8. Give directions to vendors and contractors to locations within Mall of America and the surrounding area.
  9. Utilize radio to request assistance from other MOA Security units or external agencies at checkpoints as needed.
  10. Work additional duties including Patrol support, PEP enforcement, traffic control, crowd and line control, roof details, and bag checks as assigned.
  11. Work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, holidays, high volume days, mandatory overtime and short notice special events.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Excellent guest service skills.
  3. Excellent listening and verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Able to remain calm in stressful situations utilizing rational thinking and decision-making skills.
  5. Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to multi-task.
  6. Must be observant and safety minded.
  7. Basic computer skills.
Physical Job Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the officer will occasionally be required to speak and listen to guests to understand their needs and communicate solutions. Officers must also possess a level of hearing that allows them to be aware of their surroundings and recognize when a guest needs their attention. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Officers are required to tolerate multiple sensory stimuli at once, which may include loud noises, smells, temperature variations, bright lights, colors, motion, and other visual stimuli.

  • Walk: Infrequently, about 25% of the time
  • Stand: Infrequently, about 25% of the time
  • Sit: Occasionally, about 50% of the time
  • Bend/Stoop: Infrequently, about 20% of the time
  • Kneel/Squat: Rarely, about 5% of the time
  • Climb: Infrequently, about 15% of the time
  • Able to step up to semi-truck cab door
  • Lift/Carry: Less than 10lb continuously, about 100% of the time; 11-25lb rarely, about 5% of the time; Push/Pull rarely, about 5% of the time; Twist infrequently, about 25% of the time; Reach above shoulders infrequently, about 25% of the time; Reach at or below shoulders infrequently, about 25% of the time; Reach at/below waist occasionally, about 50% of the time; Dexterity frequently, about 80% of the time.
  • Use of both hands is required to perform duties and maintain safety standards.
