Job summary

The Taft Museum of Art is seeking a dedicated Security Associate for the 2nd shift (Friday–Tuesday, 3:00 pm–11:00 pm) in downtown Cincinnati. This full-time, non-exempt role protects visitors, staff and artworks while patrolling spaces and monitoring security systems.

Responsibilities include access control, incident reporting, and supporting after-hours events. Eligible for various benefits and a potential 4-day work week program.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or National Career Readiness Certificate required.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Experience with CCTV, access control systems and related security technologies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor galleries and public/non-public areas to ensure safety.
  • Patrol collections, buildings, equipment, and grounds to prevent theft and hazards.
  • Rotate through posts: Galleries, Control Room, Reception Desk.
  • Report changes or interactions involving artwork; keep logs.
  • Monitor CCTV, alarms, and related security systems.
  • Control access to secured areas; manage keys and vendor check-ins.
  • Respond to emergencies and coordinate timely resolutions.
  • Oversee loading dock activity; assist with art shipments.
  • Provide security coverage during after-hours events.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures.
  • Enforce museum policies in all areas.
  • Maintain Lost & Found records.
  • Prepare incident reports; submit to the Manager of Security.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies when required.
  • Serve as Safety Officer (Fire Watch) as needed.
