JobSummary:
When assigned, maintains policies and programs to ensure physical safety of the casino’s guests, employees, property and assets; complies with Virginia Lottery Board security requirements and the casino’s internal controls.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Yes, will supervise 15 to 20 direct reports.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting Rivers Core Values at all times
- Practice teamwork, support fellow Team Members, and create an energized, positive work atmosphere
- Maintain grooming and uniform standards. Overall appearance is to be immaculate and name tags are to be worn at all times, and ensure that the Security Department Team adhere to the same standards
- Provides exceptional customer service to guests at all times
- Be aware of and handle guest opportunities
- Maintain daily log, i.e. time clocks, sign-in sheets when available
- Respond to disturbances in order to defuse the incident. Be prepared to become involved in a physical confrontation when necessary. Always remain Alert
- Observe, report, and take-action as directed by leadership with respect to all suspicious, unusual situations
- Responds to suspicions of problem or underage gambling and alcohol or drug intoxication in accordance with established procedures and protocols
- Contacts supervisor when security situations require intervention beyond scope of authority
- Ensures compliance with operational procedures for activities such as guest service standards, fire prevention emergency response, guarding and patrolling the physical property, orienting and monitoring of personnel involved with gaming protection activities, and investigation of accidents and criminal acts.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory controls both internal and external including but not limited to state and federal labor laws and the Virginia Lottery Board regulations and guidelines.
- Works with representatives of local government to ensure cooperation and coordination of casino activities with law enforcement and firefighting agencies.
- Directs activities of workers involved in workplace safety programs.
- Reviews and approves all Security Officer performance.
- Hires, trains and manages staff in accordance with organizational and approved departmental policies, practices and programs.
- Respond to and assist with emergencies, including but not limited to fires, medical, and criminal activity, in accordance with established procedures
- Interviews guests and Team Members when security incidents occur
- Obtains assistance for accident victims
- Writes detailed security reports
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Two or more years of previous experience in security or law enforcement
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Gaming leadership experience required
- Knowledge of state gaming regulations, safety and security practices and protocols.
- Background and knowledge of security operations, safety, investigation, and legal issues.
Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations:
- Gaming license/registration as required by jurisdiction(s).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent leadership/motivation skills.
- Excellent organization and planning skills.
- Excellent knowledge in various computer programs including Google & Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Available to work flexible shifts, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary licensing.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to see, walk, talk and hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to work in a noisy and smoky environment.
- Must occasionally move and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Able to work with others while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
- Ability to work in an environment with moderate to loud noise, bright lights, smoke , and dust .
