Job description

This position serves as the Security Assistant for Police Service Finger Lakes HCS, Canandaigua NY within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), with the primary purpose of monitoring physical security equipment and systems.

Duties

To meet the minimum qualifications, you must meet one of the following:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Security Assistant. This includes experience with computer and automation systems, data entry, report preparation, database management, maintaining confidentiality, and effective communication skills.

EDUCATION: Successfully completed four years of education above high school level at an accredited institution. Transcripts must be submitted with the application.

COMBINATION: Possess a combination of education and experience that meets the total qualification requirements. Transcripts are required if using this pathway.

Experience includes paid, unpaid, volunteer work, and service programs. Volunteer work is credited if it builds relevant skills and competencies.

Physical Demands

The work is typically sedentary but may involve walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items. No special physical demands are required. Working on off-tours, rotating shifts, or overtime may be necessary.
