Job summary

Johnson Controls Federal Systems (JCFS) seeks a Commercial Electronic Security Technician to support the Penn State campus in State College, PA. You will service and install electronic security systems, including access control and CCTV, coordinating with police and fire departments and ensuring safety and compliance.

Preferred experience with SoftwareHouse C-Cure 9000 and Bosch/MDI/AD camera systems, plus the ability to obtain necessary government clearances.

Qualifications

• Experience installing, inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing commercial/industrial security systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, specs, schematics and manuals.
• Clear communication, written and verbal, with teammates and customers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and service ESS, including access controls, intrusion detection and cameras.
• Assist with installation planning and ensure compliance with codes and guidelines.
• Program and test security systems; coordinate with authorities and prepare records for emergencies.
• Provide End-User training and safety-focused operations.

Job description

We are seeking a commercial Electronic Security Technician to join our federal team supporting the main Penn State University campus location in State College, PA.

As a Security Technician, you will:

• Conduct maintenance and service work, and some installation work, of commercial Electronic Security Systems (ESS) to include, but not limited to, access controls, intrusion detection, and camera systems. Specific systems include, but not limited to: SoftwareHouse C-cure 9000, American Dynamics, and DMP.
• May install security devices and infrastructure at times in accordance with installation plan according to the national electric code, company and customer guidelines
• Assists with security system programming and setup.
• Conducts testing to ensure proper operation of equipment after installation or repairs
• Conducts testing of system to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service.
• Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and handles necessary records for notification of emergency calls.
• May help prepare estimates in accordance with prescribed instructions or directions from supervisor
• Conduct End-User training.
• Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials and cleans up installation debris.
• Performs other duties as required

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience installing, inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing of commercial and/or industrial integrated /electronic security systems for low voltage intrusion, access control, CCTV and digital recording systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics and operational product manuals.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, while establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
• Capable of using hand and power tools to properly mount and secure equipment
• Works well unsupervised and also as part of a team environment
• The ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances and/or badges as required to perform site duties. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency working with Softwarehouse C-cure 9000
• Proficiency working with commercial and/or industrial camera systems. Experience working with Bosch, MDI, and/or American Dynamics preferred.
