Job summary

Tulane University seeks a Technology Architect to design, build, and evolve a scalable, secure research computing ecosystem across Windows, Linux, HPC, virtualization, and hybrid cloud platforms to support the university’s rapidly growing research community. The role leads end-to-end architecture—from compute to software stacks—while translating grant requirements into standard technical solutions.

Expected focus includes GovCloud enclaves, IAM, data security, zero-trust, and NIST/CMMC 2.0

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, engineering or equivalent required.
• Significant experience in systems architecture and enterprise infrastructure.
• Experience with secure, compliant research computing environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain a research infrastructure roadmap aligned with institutional goals.
• Lead secure research platform builds including HPC clusters and data pipelines.
• Design GovCloud-based and hybrid secure enclaves for sponsored workloads.
• Develop reference architectures for AI/ML and regulated workloads.
• Translate research and grant requirements into technical designs.
• Provide technical consultation during grant proposals and budget modeling.
• Collaborate with research administration to support grant lifecycle.
• Implement IAM, data encryption, segmentation, and zero-trust architectures.
• Maintain audit readiness and compliance with CMMC 2 and NIST 800-171.
