Job summary

Devil Mountain Wholesale Nursery Llc in Farmington, CA is seeking a Sectional Care I to maintain plant areas, monitor irrigation, and support plant health across designated sections of the production yard.

You will collaborate with Yard Management and Inventory teams, keep areas clean and safe, and assist other nursery departments as needed. Outdoor, outdoor production yard environment with physical tasks and weather exposure.

Responsibilities

• Maintain plant areas by pulling weeds and consolidating stock within the assigned section.
• Monitor irrigation to ensure proper watering and avoid over/under-watering.
• Communicate with Inventory staff when plants are consolidated or moved.
• Notify Inventory staff of signs of poor health or decline.
• Communicate daily and weekly tasks with Yard Management.
• Maintain nursery areas to keep them clean, organized, and safe for staff, customers, and vendors.
• Ensure nursery stock is handled carefully and placed in proper locations.

Job Summary

Sectional Care I is responsible for the care and maintenance of plants within a designated area of the production yard. This role supports plant health and production quality by maintaining plant areas, monitoring irrigation conditions, and ensuring plants are properly maintained and organized.

Sectional Care staff work closely with Yard Management and Inventory teams to maintain plant health, support accurate plant movement, and ensure their assigned areas remain clean, organized, and safe.

Essential Functions

• Maintain plant areas by pulling weeds, removing suckers, and consolidating plant stock within the assigned section.
• Monitor irrigation within the assigned area to help ensure plants receive proper watering and are not overwatered or underwatered.
• Communicate with Inventory staff when plants are consolidated or moved within the yard.
• Notify Inventory staff when plants show signs of poor health or decline.
• Communicate with Yard Management regarding daily and weekly tasks.
• Maintain assigned nursery areas to ensure they remain clean, organized, and safe for employees, customers, and vendors.
• Ensure nursery stock is handled carefully, watered appropriately, and placed in the proper location.

Additional Responsibilities

• Assist other nursery departments as needed.
• Support general nursery operations and plant care activities.
• Duties are subject to change at any time per management's discretion.

• Basic understanding of irrigation systems and plant maintenance practices.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position is performed primarily outdoors in active nursery production yard environments.

Work conditions include varying weather conditions, uneven ground surfaces, active equipment and vehicle traffic, and exposure to dust, pollen, moisture, and seasonal allergens. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as applicable.

Physical requirements include:

• Extensive walking throughout the nursery during the workday.
• Frequent bending, twisting, turning, squatting, and stooping.
• Working on uneven surfaces including dirt, gravel, plant material, and irrigated areas.
• Use of hands and fingers for grasping and moving plant material.
• Lifting up to 50 lbs independently (approximately 80% of the time).
• Participating in team lifts up to 100 lbs (approximately 10% of the time).
