Job summary

Consolidated Precision Products Corp in Eastlake, OH is seeking a Section Manager to lead post-cast operations, drive production efficiency, and ensure quality and profitability across the department.

You will plan, budget, oversee staff, collaborate with engineering and manufacturing, monitor safety, and implement Lean and Six Sigma practices to reduce waste and costs while meeting delivery targets and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; seven to ten years of manufacturing experience in progressively responsible roles.
  • Knowledge of the casting industry and Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, and procedures with input from senior management.
  • Ensure post-cast production and financial goals are met and production schedules are optimized.
  • Review forecasts and orders daily to set production locations, schedules, and staffing within budget.
  • Assist Sales with quotes and field visits, as needed.
  • Monitor financial statements and performance data to identify cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and oversee quality control systems across post-cast operations.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to set product standards and resolve issues.
  • Identify capital projects and drive cost-saving improvements.

Position Overview

Responsible for the Production and Operations of post-cast departments to ensure that the plant meets production needs, regulatory requirements, and profitability targets. Plan, budget, and develop projects that increase productivity, reduce operational costs, reduce waste, and improve product quality throughout the post-cast departments. Perform administrative functions, such as budgeting, reviewing, or writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, or purchasing materials or services. Oversee the performance and management of post-cast staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and implement organizational and post-cast departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with GM and other team members as appropriate
  • Responsible for ensuring post-cast production and financial goals
  • Review forecast with Manufacturing and Engineering to make production schedule modifications as needed
  • Review incoming orders daily to make decisions concerning production location and schedules, work procedures, inventory requirements and staffing requirements, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints. Shares information with Manufacturing as appropriate
  • Assist Sales with quotes, field visits, and other operational concerns
  • Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvements.
  • Maintain accuracy of inventory
  • Develop, or implement and maintain production tracking and quality control systems, analyzing production, quality, maintenance, or other operational reports, to detect and resolve production problems
  • Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to set and monitor product standards for the examination of raw materials and manufactured products to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality
  • Identify and provide justification for capital projects throughout post-cast departments
  • Initiate cost saving improvements
  • Monitor projects and, with input from Engineering and Manufacturing, make course corrections as appropriate
  • Ensure plant safety and adherence to OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Enforce 6S and Lean Manufacturing standards
  • Hire, train, evaluate, and manage performance of direct reports and indirect post-cast team
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience: Seven to ten years’ manufacturing experience in increasingly responsible roles. Certifications/Licenses: None. Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of the casting industry. Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing. Ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, Oracle reports and PEIs as well as complex documents and reports. Excellent team skills and able to interact with other employees, engineers, and leadership. Ability to drive safety. Ability to report progress with engineers to solve issues. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations as well as problems involving abstract concepts. Formal problem-solving skills. Working Environment
  • Working Environment: Office environment; shop floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Required PPE: Check for required PPE in areas you may be working in
  • Safety Glasses: Needed in all areas of the plant.
  • Steel toe shoes: Needed in all areas of the plant.
  • Travel Requirements: 5-10%. Including customer and vendor visits.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
