Job summary

Avita Health System is seeking a Section Head – Chemistry (MLT) at the Ontario location. Under supervision of Laboratory leadership, you will oversee lab functions, perform chemical tests, and ensure quality control across divisions of the Clinical Laboratory.

The role requires a Bachelor's or Associate degree in Medical Technology, with at least four years of technical experience (one in chemistry), plus regulatory compliance. Leadership experience preferred and Avita offers strong benefits.

We’re currently seeking a dedicated Section Head – Chemistry (MLT) to join our Laboratory Department at our Ontario location.

Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Laboratory Director, Laboratory Manager, or Laboratory Supervisor, provides laboratory services to meet the needs of patients performed in accordance with accepted standards and practices. Directs, supervises, and coordinates functions and activities in any or all divisions of the Clinical Laboratory as designated. Performs a wide variety of routine and special laboratory procedures for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Responsible for receiving and processing specimens, performing and interpreting chemical test results on blood and body fluids. Responsible for quality control, new test validation and troubleshooting as necessary.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology, or Associate Degree or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited college.
• Four years of technical experience with at least one year working in chemistry.
• Adheres to regulatory requirements including all State, Federal and the accrediting body regulations.

Preferred:

• National certification by one of the following: American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
• Previous supervisory or management experience.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Biology or Chemistry, or related science.
