Job summary

Avita Health System seeks a Section Head – Chemistry (MLT) to join the Laboratory Department at its Ontario location. Under supervision, you will direct and coordinate chemistry lab activities, ensure quality control, and support patient care through timely testing and accurate results.

The role requires strong leadership, regulatory compliance, and hands-on technical skills in clinical chemistry; candidates should have relevant degrees and certifications and a track record of ensuring test

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology, or Associate Degree or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited college.
• Four years of technical experience with at least one year working in chemistry.
• Adheres to regulatory requirements including all State, Federal and accrediting body regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide laboratory services in accordance with accepted standards and practices.
• Direct, supervise, and coordinate functions in the Clinical Laboratory divisions designated.
• Perform and interpret chemical tests on blood and body fluids; manage quality control and test validation.

We’re currently seeking a dedicated Section Head – Chemistry (MLT) to join our Laboratory Department at our Ontario location.

Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Laboratory Director, Laboratory Manager, or Laboratory Supervisor, provides laboratory services to meet the needs of patients performed in accordance with accepted standards and practices. Directs, supervises, and coordinates functions and activities in any or all divisions of the Clinical Laboratory as designated. Performs a wide variety of routine and special laboratory procedures for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Responsible for receiving and processing specimens, performing and interpreting chemical test results on blood and body fluids. Responsible for quality control, new test validation and troubleshooting as necessary.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology, or Associate Degree or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited college.
• Four years of technical experience with at least one year working in chemistry.
• Adheres to regulatory requirements including all State, Federal and the accrediting body regulations.

Preferred:

• National certification by one of the following: American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
• Previous supervisory or management experience.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Biology or Chemistry, or related science.
