Job summary

North Creek Nurseries Inc. is seeking a Section Grower responsible for care and maintenance of plants postproduction. This full-time role requires 40-50 hours per week, with overtime as needed, and occasional weekend work in all weather conditions.

The position demands knowledge of growing techniques, horticultural understanding of perennials, grasses, ferns and vines, and strong English communication. A PA pesticide applicators license is preferred or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic growing techniques.
• Horticultural knowledge and understanding of perennials, grasses, ferns and vines.
• Must communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Able to do simple math calculations and conversions.
• Solid knowledge of pesticide safety and application techniques.
• Be able to obtain a PA Pesticide applicators license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain plant health and quality through proper irrigation, fertilization and pest control techniques.
• Responsible for maintenance and reporting of plant inventory changes in the shipping/growing facility, and informing Inventory Manager.
• Perform regular testing to assure proper soil chemistry and plant nutrition.
• Maintain a clean and organized growing area free of weeds.
• Make pesticide applications as required and follow standard work procedures to ensure compliance with all state and federal laws.
• Make recommendations regarding improved operating policies and procedures.

The Section Grower is responsible for the execution of care and proper maintenance of the plants postproduction. Full-time with average week 40-50 hours; must be willing to work additional hours as needed and be prepared to work in all weather conditions (rain or shine) at tasks that are sometimes physically demanding. Weekend work is required when scheduled.
