This is a leadership position within the Department, responsible for achieving clinical, research, and academic programmatic goals while providing oversight of the Section. The Department is responsible for clinical hematopathology services at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, the school's 650-bed tertiary care core teaching hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. The laboratory also supports the recently opened Jack and Sheryl Morris Cancer Center and the Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital, both of which are connected to the main hospital. The successful candidate will serve as the Section Chief and will be responsible for leadership, communication, and teamwork within the laboratory. This includes accountability for all aspects of clinical oversight in hematopathology, including quality assurance and accreditation, and development of services. In addition, the Section Chief will provide patient care services and will support the Rutgers Health and RWJ Barnabas Health (RWJBH) mission of providing hope, healing, and the best health care for patients and their families. The Section Chief will provide administrative oversight for the Section under the leadership of the Department Chair and the Vice Chair of Clinical Operations for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. The Section Chief will be a member of the hematopathology team, consulting with clinical staff and participating in tumor boards, as well as actively participating in the educational programs of the Department, including teaching medical students, residents, and clinical fellows. The Section Chief will also be expected to engage in productive research activities.
