Job summary

Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority is seeking a full-time Housing Inspector/Administrative Specialist to perform HQS and NSPIRE inspections under the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program. The role includes administrative duties, data entry, and reporting to support program operations in Portsmouth, VA.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of HUD HQS/NSPIRE standards, Section 8 policies, and strong clerical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with HUD HQS and NSPIRE inspection standards.
• Knowledge of Section 8 program policies and procedures.
• Basic residential maintenance knowledge is desirable.
• Strong clerical aptitude and ability to manage data and reports.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform HQS/NSPIRE inspections for occupied and vacant dwellings.
• Prepare reports with deficiencies and recommended corrective actions.
• Communicate with property owners/agents about compliance with standards.
• Maintain inspection schedules, logs and related records in agency software.
• Coordinate calendars and route planning for efficient daily inspections.
