Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Architect to support development, build, and test validation of ruggedized electronic systems for military applications. You will lead multidisciplinary teams through requirements, concept, design, manufacturing support, and environmental testing, coordinating with engineers, analysts, PMs, and customers.

The role requires strong leadership, 5+ years in hardware design, and the ability to obtain SAP and security clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience.
  • US Government Secret Clearance prior to starting.
  • Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start.
  • 5 years of design and development experience of ruggedized electro-mechanical hardware.
  • 5 years using mechanical CAD tools such as Siemens NX.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across the full product lifecycle.
  • Develop requirements, concepts, detailed designs and manufacturing support.
  • Coordinate with engineers, analysts, PMs, and customers to meet schedules and budgets.
  • Identify technical risks and drive engineering programs to successful execution.

Job Description

This Mechanical Architect will support the development, build, and test validation of ruggedized electronic systems designed for military and mission-critical applications. Working within a collaborative Hardware Engineering organization, the engineer will lead and contribute to multidisciplinary teams throughout the full product lifecycle, including requirements development, concept creation, detailed design, manufacturing support, and environmental testing. Responsibilities include solving complex technical challenges, developing innovative solutions that meet performance, cost, and schedule objectives, and coordinating closely with engineers, analysts, program managers, and customers. The role also involves managing project schedules and budgets, identifying and communicating technical risks, and supporting the successful execution of engineering programs. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential for effectively collaborating with stakeholders and driving project success.

Compensation for this role ranges from $85/hr to $115/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access.

Skills and Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree with 5 years of experience
  • U.S Government Secret Clearance prior to starting.
  • Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start.
  • 5 years of experience in design and development of ruggedized electro-mechanical and/or opto-mechanical hardware
  • 5 years of experience with mechanical CAD design tools such as Siemens NX or similar
  • 5 years of demonstrated application of innovative solutions to complex problems Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skill.
  • Expertise with thermal and structural analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of military and commercial process specifications that are relevant to the development and testing of electronics hardware for military applications.
  • Proficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and ASME Y14 standards.
  • Demonstrated success leading others within an integrated product team (IPT), supporting the development of junior engineers and cross functional collaboration for overall project success.
  • Experience with project management metrics, including earned value management, to monitor and manage engineering budget and schedule requirements.
  • Experience in design, manufacturing, and integration of electronic assemblies including printed circuit board design, appropriate material selections and use of off the shelf components.
  • Experience contributing to technical and cost proposal development.
  • Leadership in process improvement or knowledge transfer (i.e. publication) activities.
