Job summary

MITRE, a not-for-profit engineering and research organization, invites applicants for an Operations Research Analyst in its Operations Analysis group. The role supports national security and public-interest projects by applying advanced analytics and optimization to inform policy, logistics, and technology decisions.

You will work with a team of OR professionals across research areas, frame problems, build models, and present actionable results to sponsor audiences.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s in OR/related fields, or 6 years with a Master’s, or a PhD with 3 years.
• Passion for applying operations research, statistics, and data analytics to real world problems.
• Willing to adapt and learn.
• Demonstrated ability to use at least one optimization package (e.g., Gurobi, CPLEX, PuLP, AMPL).
• Demonstrated ability to use at least one programming language (e.g., Python, R, Java).
• Active Secret U.S. Government security clearance and eligibility for Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced analytical and mathematical modeling techniques to inform policy, acquisition decisions, and optimize operations.
• Frame problems, collect data, develop and code customized algorithms, identify risks, and incorporate context.
• Present results in an intuitive way to sponsor audiences, including data visualizations.
• Work independently and with a team of technical staff and domain experts.
• Work successfully in both remote and on-site settings.
