Job summary

Todd County School District 66-1 in Mission, South Dakota is seeking a high school teacher to join our staff. The position is full-time and starts immediately, with a 193-day contract for new teachers and 188 days for returning staff, with benefits per the Teacher’s Negotiated Agreement.

You will lead instruction, participate in curriculum design, assess student progress, and collaborate with colleagues to support diverse learners in a rigorous academic program.

Qualifications

• Must hold proper state certification
• Bachelor degree preferred
• Experience in high school setting is desirable

• Refer students for alternative services as provided by the District (ESL, Reading, Special Reading).
• Effectively implement district initiatives.
• Effectively collaborate with department and grade level teachers.

POSITION TITLE: High School Teacher

FLSA: Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper state certification

REPORTS TO: Principal and/or other Supervisor

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: New teachers 193 days; returning teachers 188 days with benefits provided according to the Teacher’s Negotiated Agreement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Participate in curriculum review and design.
• Implementa variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
• Diagnose and evaluates student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
• Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
• Serve on committees as assigned.
• Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $55,000 Contract
