Job summary

Downingtown Area School District is seeking a certified Reading Special Education teacher for a long-term substitute at Downingtown Middle School. The assignment runs approx.

11/9/2026 through the end of the 2026-2027 school year and requires PA Special Education PK-8/7-12 or PK-12 and PA Reading Specialist PK-12 credentials. We value collaborative, inclusive education and high expectations for all students.

Qualifications

• Candidate must be a graduate of an accredited college or university and hold a proper Pennsylvania certification for the position.
• The employee may be required to engage in activities billable under state/federal healthcare programs; suitable provider clearance is essential.
• Proficiency in technology for classroom instruction and communication.
• Must be able to flex hours to meet student and school needs.

Responsibilities

• Provides instruction and support to special education students in accordance with their IEP.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to address students' individual needs.
• Works cooperatively with district staff and outside agencies to coordinate student programs and provide appropriate support.
• Coordinates services for students on caseload, prepares essential documents and adheres to timelines.
• Participates in IEP meetings and provides staff development on needs related to disabilities.
