The Accelerated School in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Secondary Math Teacher to plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction for diverse learners. You will use a mix of strategies and assessments to promote critical thinking, autonomy, and student engagement, while upholding Safe, inclusive classroom practices and restorative approaches.

A California single-subject math credential (or eligible intern/permit) is required; Spanish bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans rigorous, standards-aligned instruction for secondary math reflecting the school’s model and standards.

Establishes a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment by implementing Positive Behavior Supports, Restorative Practices, school-wide expectations, and appropriate de-escalation strategies while ensuring students’ rights are respected. Collaborates with colleagues, engages in ongoing professional learning, communicates regularly with families, and completes additional duties as assigned by school administrators.What You Will Do Instructional Planning and Delivery* Plans rigorous, engaging instruction, aligned to the school’s instructional model and driven by the applicable standards.* Incorporates a variety of strategies and resources to respond to students’ diverse needs and interests, including prescribed educational software and curriculum.* Facilitates learning experiences that promote autonomy, interaction, and student choice.* Engages students in problem solving, critical thinking, and meaning-making.Assessment & Data-Driven Instruction* Designs and administers assessments, and uses assessment data to refine curricula and inform instruction and intervention.Classroom Culture, Behavior & Student Safety* Implements Positive Behavior Support strategies and Restorative Practices to develop a safe and nurturing classroom community.* Reinforces school-wide rules, policies, and expectations in and outside of the classroom.* Ensures the rights of all students are observed and protected through the use of appropriate and respectful communication, proper de-escalation techniques, and the use of nonviolent crisis intervention strategies when required.Family & Community Engagement* Communicates frequently with students’ families through multiple means, including (but not limited to) progress reports, conferences, family events, phone calls.Collaboration & Professional Learning* Collaborates with colleagues, including teacher, administrators, and instructional coaches.* Engages in ongoing learning through regular professional development and collaboration, including grade-level, department, and PLC meetings.Professional Responsibilities* Completes other duties as directed by school administrators.Our Ideal Teammate* Deeply mission-driven and believe Accelerated can and will meet audacious goals.
