Job summary

Utility Metals in Louisville, KY is seeking a 2nd Shift Machine Operator (Mon-Thu, 5:00pm–3:30am). You will set up, adjust, and operate machinery to bend and form heavy-duty steel components for our industrial storage products, reading blueprints and selecting tooling to meet our obsessively overbuilt standards.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, performing precise measurements with calipers and tape, and maintaining a safe, clean workstation.

Qualifications

• Read engineering drawings / blueprints with attention to detail.
• Perform accurate mathematical calculations for layouts.
• Operate manual or CNC machinery with safety focus.
• Maintain high-quality components through rigorous checks.
• Lift heavy steel objects and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Form and bend sheet metal and steel plate to precise angles and dimensions for cabinets, workstations, and carts.
• Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and technical drawings to determine material requirements and bending sequences.
• Inspect finished components using calipers, squares, and tape measures to ensure high quality.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and keep a clean, safe workspace.
