Job summary

Prairie-Farms-Dairy seeks a Second Shift Plant Maintenance Mechanic at the Woodbury, MN facility to maintain production assets and utility systems, ensuring safe, sanitary and efficient operations. The role requires reading schematics, performing preventative and corrective maintenance, and coordinating with other teams.

Candidates should have 2+ years in manufacturing maintenance, with PLC/HVAC experience and ability to lift up to 50 lbs; overtime and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; Formal Engineering/Maintenance Training desired.
• 2 years minimum experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing facility, preferably in the food and beverage industry.
• 1 year minimum experience with one or more technical experiences: electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer controlled equipment, PLC and HVAC.
• 1 year minimum experience with equipment including lubrication, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control and packaging equipment.
• Ammonia refrigeration experience preferred.
• Ability to inspect equipment, recognize problems and take corrective action to prevent downtime.
• Stand/walk/kneel/bend; lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Work in wet environments with moderate to high noise.
• Flexible hours including overtime, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Ensure operation of machinery and equipment by completing maintenance on production, packaging, processing equipment and utilities.
• Readily available for emergency repairs in breakdown situations.
• Read, interpret electrical schematics, service manuals and work orders to perform maintenance.
• Perform preventative maintenance and read SPC data.
• Complete work orders with high quality standards.
• Use hand and power tools, meters and material handling equipment.
• Communicate with other departments and notify management of problems affecting production efficiency.
• Document paperwork clearly and accurately per SOPs.
• Assist in maintaining parts and inventory by reporting low supply levels.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes through continuous improvement mindset.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area.
• Follow lockout-tagout, PPE and safety procedures.
• Responsible for food safety and quality in the designated area; report issues promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
