Job summary

General Motors is seeking a 2nd Shift Maintenance Group Leader to head the Global Artisan Innovation Center Body Shop and Paint area in Warren, MI. You will guide skilled maintenance staff, prioritize work, and ensure equipment readiness for safe, reliable operation in a pre-production environment.

You will drive preventive and corrective maintenance, collaborate with production and engineering, and develop the team’s technical depth to support continuous improvement and on-time build schedules.

Qualifications

Five or more years of industrial, automotive, manufacturing, or similar maintenance experience.
Two or more years of experience leading, coordinating, or supervising maintenance work.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and manuals.
Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance and work-order prioritization.

Responsibilities

Lead and support second-shift maintenance work across Body Shop and Paint areas.
Set daily priorities for preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance.
Coach and develop maintenance staff with clear expectations and training.
Ensure safe work practices and proper energy control and PPE usage.
Coordinate troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and robotic equipment.
Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Safety, Facilities, and external providers to protect schedules.
Review shift conditions, open work, and staffing needs; hand off to other shifts.
Monitor maintenance execution, downtime, and parts availability; drive improvements.
