Carrier Global Corporation in Indianapolis is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Maintenance Mechanic to own the reliability of furnace plant machinery and keep operations running smoothly.

This is a unionized site with stable hours, competitive hourly pay, and comprehensive benefits. You will perform preventive maintenance, fabricate and install components, troubleshoot issues, and ensure safe, compliant operations across the facility.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and pass Industrial Assessment Test (70%+).
• Journeyman's Card is required.
• Completed Skilled Trades Apprenticeship in machine repair.
• 2+ years experience in industrial maintenance.
• Willing to complete Carrier safety programs.

About the Role

Carrier is looking for 2nd Shift Production Maintenance Mechanic who are ready to take full ownership of the machinery and equipment that keeps our Indianapolis furnace plant running. This is a unionized site, offering the kind of stability, competitive hourly pay, and benefits that skilled tradespeople deserve. In this role, you will be responsible for the reliability of our systems, working under general supervision to modify, fabricate, set up, and adjust a wide variety of mechanical systems.

We are looking for individuals with strong character who move with a sense of urgency. Being flexible and adaptable is essential for this role; you must be able to switch tasks as priorities change to minimize equipment downtime. Location:

• Indianapolis, IN (Onsite)

Shift & Overtime Expectations:

• Hours: Monday through Thursday, 5:00 PM to 3:30 AM (10-hour shifts).
• Flexibility: Friday requirements often extend to 12-hour shifts (5:00 PM to 5:00 AM).
• Incentives: 2nd shift includes a $0.30/hr premium.
• Overtime: Weekly overtime is expected. Overtime pay is time-and-a-half, and while we try to avoid Sundays, Sunday work is paid at double-time.

Key Responsibilities

• Keep the machines and equipment in efficient operating conditions
• Inspect machines and perform preventive maintenance
• Dismantle, move and repair industrial machinery and equipment
• Conduct modification, fabrication, and installation of industrial machinery and equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning industrial machinery and equipment
• Follow site safety rules and processes i.e., in the associate handbook, cardinal rule cards, job specific standard work and relevant EHS training documents

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED AND successfully complete (70% or higher) the applicable Industrial Assessment TestOR
• Hold a current Journeyman's CardOR
• Successfully completed a Skilled Trades Apprenticeship Program for machine repair
• 2+ years of experience in industrial maintenance
• Willing and able to complete the Carrier safety programs successfully

Preferred Qualifications

• Work from defined drawings and specifications
• Understand and use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments
• Demonstrated ability to perform operations involving use of industrial machine tools
• Use shop mathematics and handbook formulas
• Capable of performing physically demanding tasks throughout the entire shift

Pay Range

The hourly rate for this position is between $24.00 - $48.00 per hour. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
