Job summary

Carrier’s Indianapolis facility, which manufactures residential gas furnaces, is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Maintenance Electrician to join the Manufacturing Engineering team. The role requires familiarity with control cabinets, PLC systems, and multimeters, and offers a stable, unionized environment with competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Journeyman's card or completion of Skilled Trades Apprenticeship in Electrician.
• 3+ years’ experience as an industrial electrician.
• Willing and able to complete Carrier safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Electrical Repair: Diagnose faults, perform repairs, readjustments, or calibrations on manufacturing equipment.
• Technical Tooling: Use multimeters, oscilloscopes, hand tools, or soldering equipment to troubleshoot and wire circuits.
• Installation: Lay out wiring for machines, conveyors, elevators, cranes, and busbars.
• Component Replacement: Replace gas valves, relays, fuses, and motors as needed.
• Maintenance & Safety: Perform preventive maintenance and keep work areas clean and safe per site rules.

About this role

Carrier’s facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, who manufactures residential gas furnaces, is recruiting 2nd Shift Production Maintenance Electrician to join the Manufacturing Engineering team.

The 2nd Shift Production Maintenance Electrician must know their way around a control cabinet, PLC systems, and a multimeter. Our Indianapolis furnace manufacturing plant is a unionized (voluntary) site, offering the kind of stability, competitive hourly pay, and benefits that skilled tradespeople deserve. We need fixers by nature. When a motor burns out or a circuit trips, you are the one who finds the root cause and gets the production line back online. While we can train you on the technical specifics, we need industrial maintenance team members who are flexible, move with a sense of urgency, and can switch tasks on a dime. • Hours: Monday through Thursday, 5:00 PM to 3:30 AM (10-hour shifts).

• Flexibility: Friday requirements often extend to 12-hour shifts (5:00 PM to 5:00 AM).

• Incentives: 2nd shift includes a $0.30/hr. premium.

• Overtime: Weekly overtime is expected. Overtime pay is time-and-a-half, and while we try to avoid Sundays, Sunday work is paid at double-time.

Key Responsibilities

• Electrical Repair: Diagnose faults, perform actual repairs, readjustments, or calibrations on manufacturing equipment.
• Technical Tooling: Utilize multimeters, oscilloscopes, hand, electrical, or soldering tools to troubleshoot and wire electrical circuits.
• Installation: Lay out construction wiring and maintain electrical circuits for machine installations, conveyors, elevators, cranes, and busbars.
• Component Replacement: Replace unit components including gas valves, control relays, protective relays, fan/blower motors, fuses, and EAC compressors.
• Maintenance & Safety: Perform preventive maintenance per schedules and preserve clean, safe work areas in accordance with site safety rules and EHS standards

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Current journeyman's card OR successfully completed a Skilled Trades Apprenticeship Program for an Electrician OR pass the applicable Industrial Assessment Test(score of 70% or higher)
• 3+ years’ experience working as an industrial electrician
• Willing and able to complete the Carrier safety programs successfully

Pay Range

The hourly rate for this position is between $24.00 - $48.00 per hour. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
