Job summary

Dayton Area School Consortium in Ohio seeks a Second Shift Substitute Custodian to support cleaning, maintenance and safety of the school building. Flexible hours and part-time status provide coverage after school and during events, with duties across cleaning, restocking, and light maintenance.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent, be able to read MSDS, work well in a team, and pass a background check. Ohio driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Flexible hours to accommodate after-school and event coverage.
• Custodial and/or building maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to read and comply with MSDS; self-directed and able to follow directions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work with students, staff and the public.
• Physical stamina and good attendance; ability to lift/move supplies/equipment.
• Able to follow safety rules and regulations and adapt to emergencies.
• Must pass a criminal background check and hold a valid Ohio driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning/housekeeping duties and routine maintenance per district policies and health regulations.
• Follow the assigned work schedule and adjust for events or special use.
• Sweep, mop, wax floors; empty trash; replenish towels and soap; clean surfaces and fixtures.
• Assist building staff with temporary tasks and special assignments.
• Adjust cleaning schedules for after-hours or special needs.
• Protect students, staff, equipment, and facilities.
