Job summary

Systematic Manufacturing Inc. (SMI) in Madison Heights, MI is seeking a skilled machinist for the second shift to set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, read blueprints, and ensure quality throughout production.

You will work with minimal supervision, troubleshoot issues, and maintain records while supporting first shift handoffs. Competitive hourly pay starts at $18+ with benefits like health insurance, a health savings account, life insurance, and PTO.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC mills and/or lathes.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T.
• Strong machining fundamentals and inspection skills.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Setting up and operating CNC mills and/or lathes.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, work instructions, and specifications.
• Performing first-piece, in-process, and final inspections.
• Verifying part quality using precision measuring equipment.
• Making tool offsets and minor program adjustments as needed.
• Troubleshooting machining, tooling, and setup issues.
• Maintaining accurate production and inspection records.
• Working with the Team Lead and first shift to ensure smooth communication between shifts.
• Helping maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
