Job summary

Guardian Recovery is seeking a Full-Time Second Shift Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) at the Princeton Detox & Recovery Center in Monmouth Junction, NJ. Pay ranges from $18.00 to $20.00 per hour based on experience. Schedule is 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM with rotating weekend shifts.

Qualifications

  • GED or high school diploma required; additional mental health certifications are a plus.
  • Experience in supporting individuals in substance use recovery preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen; CPR certification preferred or obtainable after hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in admitting new clients and orienting them to the program; provide information and answer questions.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and staff; report changes in clients’ physical or mental condition.
  • Supervise clients with emphasis on safety and wellbeing.
  • Manage client movement and whereabouts; ensure clients are monitored at all times.
  • Assist with transport of clients in company vehicles as needed.
  • De-escalate self-harm, intoxication-related, or other client problems (AMA related concerns).
  • Participate in department and staff meetings; contribute to shift turnover and continuity of care.
  • Coordinate with staff and other technicians to meet client needs; supervise meals and ensure proper waste disposal.
  • Monitor cleanliness of group rooms after activities; maintain a logbook for continuity of care and hand off information at shift changes.
  • Complete required trainings and participate in staff development activities.
  • Supervise clients completing the program with emphasis on safety and wellbeing; reinforce program rules as needed and report infractions.
  • Provide emotional support and refer clients to clinical staff for clinical issues.
  • Complete health screenings and protocols (e.g., HCG screening, breathalyzer testing, pain screening) as applicable.
  • Document incident reports timely and accurately; communicate with staff to promote quality client care.
  • Collect urine drug screens (UA) as needed; conduct vital checks and suicide screenings per protocol.
  • Observe and report safety and maintenance issues; interact with clients with professionalism and boundaries.
  • Exercise sound professional judgment; seek assistance to manage client behavior when needed.
  • Protect client privacy in accordance with GRNH, LLC policies and applicable laws; report privacy concerns without retaliation.
  • Access protected health information only as necessary for job duties and share only with appropriate personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
