Job summary

Torch Recovery is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to support clients in detoxification and residential treatment at the Bayville, NJ location. The BHT maintains a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment and provides non-clinical support under supervision.

Responsibilities include rounds, safety checks, admissions and discharges, and documenting observations in the EMR. The role emphasizes compassionate care and adherence to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record if transportation duties are assigned.
• Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
• Availability for flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Behavioral health, substance use disorder, or residential treatment experience preferred.

• Escort or transport clients to approved appointments and destinations as assigned.
• Respond to behavioral concerns and emergencies using approved techniques.
• Maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality per HIPAA and NJ requirements.
• Attend required meetings, training, and supervision.

Torch Recovery is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to support clients receiving detoxification and residential treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The BHT helps maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment while providing compassionate, non-clinical support.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and support clients throughout detox and residential treatment.
• Conduct client rounds, head counts, and safety checks using ObservSmart.
• Observe client behavior and condition and promptly communicate concerns to nursing or clinical staff.
• Assist with admissions, orientations, discharges, daily routines, and activities of daily living.
• Document client observations, shift activities, and incidents accurately in the EMR.
• Support recovery-oriented activities and groups within the scope of the BHT role.
• Escort or transport clients to approved appointments and destinations as assigned.
• Respond appropriately to behavioral concerns and emergencies using approved techniques.
• Maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, New Jersey requirements, and facility policies.
• Attend required meetings, training, and supervision.

Rate of Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour based on experience.
