Job summary

KBR, Inc. is seeking an Advanced Program Support Technician (2nd Shift) to support the SPACE SUIT DESIGN TEAM in our Science and Space division.

The role involves manufacturing, testing, and maintenance of aerospace flight hardware, including AxEMU suits and components, using 3D printers, RF welders, fabric lasers and wheel cutters. Candidates should have 5+ years of related experience, a High School Diploma or GED, the ability to read engineering drawings, and pass required trainings.

Qualifications

  • TX driver’s license and ability to operate government vehicle

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture, maintain, assemble, test, repair and process hardware to support events and deliverables

  • Assist engineers in locating and diagnosing anomalies and recommending corrective action
  • Read engineering drawings, schematics, equipment specs and test procedures daily
  • Complete required training online and in person to maintain certifications

KBR is seeking an Advanced Program Support Technician (2nd Shift) to support our SPACE SUIT DESIGN TEAM for KBR’s Science and Space division. 2nd Shift operations are being established, and the ideal candidate will be capable of being qualified in multiple working areas while helping to stand up the second shift operations.

The Advanced Program Support Technician will be responsible for manufacturing, building, testing and maintenance of aerospace flight hardware including, but not limited to:(Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU) Suits and Suit components primarily focusing on pressure integrity layers, EVA Tools and Crew Aids, Ancillary equipment, Advanced program and other contracts and subsystem equipment as required. Manufacturing equipment and processes include, but not limited to 3D printers, RF welders, fabric laser and wheel cutters. Testing of hardware will include repair and maintenance, cleaning, inspection, Engineering Change (EC) incorporation, assembly, disassembly, and performance/functional testing. Repair and maintenance processes require the use of hazardous materials such as adhesives, lubricates, and solvents.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manufacturing, maintenance, assembly, testing, repair and processing of hardware to support various events, and deliverables; incorporates engineering changes, and performs functional performance testing of Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU) components or related hardware, associated Extravehicular Activity (EVA) hardware, and other systems of hardware as assigned
  • Operation of machine equipment includes 3D printers, RF welding machines, fabric laser and wheel cutters, and various low pressure air systems
  • Provide assistance to engineers in the location and diagnosis of anomalies and recommends corrective action through liaison
  • Daily tasks associated with reading engineering drawings/schematics, equipment specifications, test procedures etc.
  • Specified training online, and in classroom, as required to maintain certifications to perform job functions
  • Daily updates to various job-related database(s)
  • Adherence to Quality and Safety requirements
  • Transportation responsibilities to operate motor vehicle for delivery of hardware to various events
  • Daily verbal and written communication with other technicians, leads, engineers, managers, other personnel and customers
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Requirements:

    • This is a second shift position tentatively scheduled for 3pm-12am.
    • Must be able to pass a Class III Physical; Physiological Training; Clean Room and Controlled Work Area Training
    • Must have excellent mechanical skills and be able to read, comprehend, and execute detailed technical processing procedures, engineering drawings, and Work Authorizing Document directions
    • Candidate must have a valid Texas driver’s license and maintain a good driving record and be able to operate a government vehicle
    • Excellent oral and written communications; must be able to read and interpret Work Authorizing Documents (WADs) and mechanical design drawings
    • Capacity to work in a team environment
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent GED,

  • Years of Experience: 5+ years of related experience

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Associate’s degree plus applicable years directly related Technical Degree or Military Technical School (skilled craft level five) or the equivalent of High School Graduate plus applicable years of directly related work experience.
  • Experience with Pressure Systems desired or familiar with Pressurized Test Equipment
