Job summary

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) seeks a competent Second Engineer to oversee engine-room watch and maintenance. You will support the Staff Chief Engineer, ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and assist in mentoring junior officers aboard a leading cruise vessel.

The role requires a valid Second Engineer license, STCW 95 certifications, and 1–2 years’ experience. You will perform handovers, contribute to monthly reports, and participate in safety committees as

Qualifications

Holder of Second Engineer qualifications and licenses per international standards.
License endorsed by the Flag State with STCW 95 certificates.
Typically 1-2 years relevant engine-room experience.
Complete understanding of the Company SMS and vessel operations.

Responsibilities

Maintain an effective engine-room watch and perform maintenance duties as assigned.
Keep an efficient watch during sea and port periods following instructions.
Call the Chief Engineer when in doubt and follow provided procedures.
Assist in familiarizing lower-ranked engine officers on the vessel.
Contribute to Engine Department Monthly Condition Reports.
Follow safety procedures for emergency controls of controllable-pitch propellers.
Carry out systematic checks of oil to sea interfaces as described.
Prepare handover reports before leaving the vessel.
Represent the Engine Department on the Shipboard Safety Committee when required.
Adhere to bunkering procedures and regulatory requirements for discharges and bilge/oily sludge.
