Job summary

Olsen Day, Inc. in Houston seeks an Accounting Manager to lead SEC reporting and technical accounting. The role is high-visibility with a clear path toward Controller and beyond. The position is hybrid, typically three days in the office, in the near northwest Houston area.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s in accounting, an active CPA, and at least five years of accounting/audit experience, with Big Four experience preferred and strong US GAAP/SEC knowledge. Travel minimal.

• Active CPA license required; candidates without an active CPA will not be considered.
• At least five years of accounting and audit experience required.
• Big Four audit experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements; experience with a registration statement helpful.
• Experience with an SEC reporting software such as Workiva preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical accounting memoranda for complex/non-routine transactions.
• Assist in preparing financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A for 10-K/10-Q/8-K.
• Strengthen and mature internal controls over financial reporting.
• Review agreements (customer, vendor, financing, real estate, grant, equity) to identify accounting implications.

SEC Reporting / Technical Accounting Manager

Our client, a significant alternative / clean energy company, seeks an Accounting Manager in Houston to lead their SEC reporting and technical accounting function.

The Company is well-funded, growing, and has an extremely healthy, collaborative, team-oriented culture.

This is a high-visibility position that offers a clear path forward toward Assistant Controller, Controller and beyond.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare technical accounting memoranda documenting the Company's positions on complex and non-routine transactions
• Assist in preparing the financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A included in the Company's periodic and current reports (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K)
• Serve as a core contributor to strengthening and maturing the Company's internal controls over financial reporting
• Review executed and pending agreements – customer, vendor, financing, real estate, grant, and equity – to identify accounting implications and document conclusions

Desired background and qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required
• An active CPA license is required; candidates without an active CPA license will not be considered
• At least five years of accounting and audit experience is required
• Big Four audit experience is preferred
• Must have strong knowledge of US GAAP and a working knowledge of SEC reporting requirements
• Experience with a registration statement is preferred
• Experience with an SEC reporting software (such as Workiva) is preferred

• The position is hybrid – typically three days a week in the office
• The office is located in near northwest Houston
• Travel is expected to be minimal (less than 10%)
• This is a new position that was created in October 2026
