Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services in Irvine, CA seeks a hands-on SEC reporting professional to join our finance team. The role focuses on preparing and reviewing SEC filings, ensuring US GAAP compliance, and coordinating with auditors and stakeholders to support quarterly and annual close.

The ideal candidate has publicly traded company experience, strong attention to detail, the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and preferably Big 4 training. CPA or equivalent is a plus; W2 only.

Qualifications

Job description

This position will play a critical role in the preparation and review of SEC filings, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while partnering cross-functionally across accounting, finance, and executive leadership.

The ideal candidate is both technically strong and hands-on, with the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced, publicly traded environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review SEC filings including 10-K, 10-Q, and related disclosures
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
• Manage the financial reporting process and supporting schedules
• Coordinate closely with external auditors and internal stakeholders
• Assist with technical accounting research and implementation
• Support quarter-end and year-end close activities as they relate to reporting
• Identify process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in SEC reporting within a publicly traded company
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial statement presentation
• Experience preparing or reviewing 10-K and 10-Q filings
• Background in Big 4 or national public accounting (highly preferred)
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with technical accounting and complex transactions
• Familiarity with reporting tools (e.g., Workiva, Hyperion, or similar)
• Strong communication and business partnering skills
• CPA or equivalent certification preferred
