Job summary

SEIU Local 925 seeks strategic Organizers to build power with working families across Washington. Positions are based in Seattle with irregular long hours and travel as campaigns demand. Starting pay varies by experience, ranging from $80,200 to $111,870 per year, with comprehensive union benefits.

Applicants should be committed to diverse, inclusive organizing, and able to engage communities of color, immigrants, and refugees. A valid driver’s license and car insurance are required.

Qualifications

• Preferred union organizing experience.
• Ability to work independently.
• Creativity and willingness to take risks in a supportive environment.
• Commitment to developing leaders and organizing to win issue campaigns.
• Experience working alongside communities of color and/or immigrant and refugee communities strongly preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities at once and prioritize appropriately.
• Possess technology skills.
• Ability to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel both regionally and nationally as necessary.
• Language requirement: fluent in Spanish, Somali, or Amharic.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop member leaders.
• Organize and teach workers to engage and lead their fellow union members.
• Develop workplans to engage diverse membership.
• Develop workplace organizing campaigns at all stages of a campaign.
• Conduct programs related to organizing (GOTV, literature) for large campaigns.
• Participate in legislative and political work.
• Lead relationships with community allies and labor coalitions.
