Job summary

Seat Complete seeks an engineer to design, develop, and deliver vehicle seating systems, ensuring safety, performance, and regulatory compliance. This role collaborates across departments and manages the seat product from concept through production.

Responsibilities include developing seat structures, managing BOMs, validating integration, and driving weight and cost reductions while coordinating with suppliers and cross-functional teams to meet project goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 5 years of automotive engineering experience.
• Familiarity with seat complete integration and components.
• Familiarity with FMVSS and ECE requirements.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and global projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate seat structures, components, foam, trim and full seat systems.
• Manage BOMs and design revisions using change management systems.
• Ensure successful integration of the seat system in the vehicle.
• Develop DVPRs and support prototypes and production builds.
• Lead root cause analysis and troubleshooting on design/manufacturing issues.
• Implement interim and permanent corrective actions to design/manufacturing issues.
• Collaborate with suppliers on design, quality, and delivery of seat parts.
• Coordinate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to meet project goals.
• Oversee the full life of the seat product—from concept to end-of-life.
• Ensure designs meet safety regulations and performance specs.
• Drive weight and cost reduction initiatives.
• Communicate product status to leadership.

Job description

The Seat Complete Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering vehicle seating systems. This includes ensuring that seats meet safety, performance, and regulatory standards. The role involves working across different departments and managing the seat product from the initial concept through to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and/or integrate seat structures, seat components, foam, trim and full seat systems
• Handle product release lifecycle: create and maintain BOMs, manage design revisions using change management systems
• Ensure successful integration of the seat system in the vehicle
• Develop DVPRs and support both prototype and production builds
• Analyze problems, lead root cause and troubleshooting on design and manufacturing issues
• Implement interim and permanent corrective actions to design and manufacturing issues
• Work closely with suppliers on the design, quality and delivery of seat parts
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to meet project goals
• Oversee the full life of the seat product—from concept, through production, to end-of-life
• Make sure all designs meet safety regulation, performance specifications and customer requirements
• Drive weight and cost reduction initiatives
• Communicate product status to leadership

Qualifications & Skill

• Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to work autonomously, excellent communication skills, positive attitude, willingness to learn, flexibility, team-player, and attention to detail
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
• 5 years of engineering experience in the automotive industry
• Familiarity with seat complete integration and components
• Understanding of components and physical integration in vehicle
• Familiarity with FMVSS and ECE requirement
• CAD Skills: Skilled in 3D modeling software (e.g., Teamcenter/NX).
• Design quality methods such as DFMEA to identify and prevent potential issues early
• Experience with global project management and leading cross-functional team
