Wiregrass Construction Company, Inc. is seeking Experienced Asphalt Crew Members to join our construction team in Alabama.

You will operate equipment such as skid steers, pavers, asphalt distributors, rollers, or shuttle buggies, and perform manual tasks to ensure safe, efficient asphalt projects. This skilled craft role requires prior asphalt experience, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to work with foremen and crew members to meet production goals.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an asphalt crewman is essential; this is not an entry-level position.
• A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Ability to understand work directions and communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
• Two years or more of asphalt experience, with a focus on roads, highways, and bridges.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction sites by cleaning and eliminating potential hazards.
• Use rakes, shovels, or other tools to handle gravel, dirt, and other materials.
• Assist equipment operators by signaling and facilitating alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
• Load, unload, and identify materials or tools as per project plans or specifications.
• Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to accurately layout work areas.
• Operate equipment safely and appropriately.
• Follow directions from foreman and superintendents.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper maintenance of equipment.
• Notify supervisor of any equipment repair needs.
• Interact with construction general laborers and crew members to ensure grade specifications are met.
