Job summary

The Kalispel Tribe of Indians seeks a Seasonal Wildland Engine Boss to lead engine crews on wildland fires across the Kalispel Indian Reservation and adjacent jurisdictions. The role requires coordination of firefighting activities, and supervision of up to two wildland firefighters, with readiness for 24/7 assignments during fire season.

Required qualifications include NWCG Engine Boss certification, ICS 100/200, NIMS 700/800, and a valid driver's license with insurance eligibility.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the Kalispel Tribe of Indians and the reservation is required.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Valid driver’s license and be eligible for automobile insurance.
• Qualified Engine Boss per NWCG; ICS 100, ICS 200; NIMS 700, NIMS 800.
• Washington State Boater Safety card.
• First Aid/ CPR; EMT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responds to Wildland Fire calls on the Kalispel Indian Reservation and nearby jurisdictions.
• Moves out on wildland fires with engine crews.
• Performs as a member of a fire crew for varied levels of fire.
• Constructs fire lines with hand tools and power saws to control fires.
• Mops up and extinguishes remaining burning material.
