American Youth Foundation is seeking a Waterfront Specialist to maintain a safe waterfront and lead swimming instruction for campers across elementary to high school ages. Roles require lifeguarding, delivering swim lessons, and coordinating water-based activities during camp blocks, with 24-hour emergency availability.

The role includes on-site housing with meals provided; candidates should be at least 18 and have post-high school experience plus demonstrated youth mentorship and strong safety

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with at least one year of post-high school experience.
• Lifeguard certification (training available before staff training).
• Previous experience working with youth.
• Strong emotional and mental health; adaptable with good judgement.

Responsabilités

• Ensure health, safety, and wellbeing of campers under care.
• Follow waterfront safety protocols and manage risk.
• Perform rescues and document incidents.
• Manage behavior with respect and focus on campers' social-emotional health.
• Coordinate with staff to meet camper needs and assist cabin leaders.
• Lead waterfront activities and supervise attendance and rosters.
• Teach swim lessons and ensure swimming safety.
• Create engaging instruction and safe, fun activities.
