Job summary

The Municipality of Anchorage, through the Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility, is hiring seasonal Operators at various levels to maintain water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Positions are 4/10s, with shift variations including nights and weekends, and require a valid Alaska CDL-B with Tank endorsement.

Applicants must meet minimum education and experience, pass background and drug checks, and be able to work for approximately six months from the date of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in operations, maintenance, construction, installation, modification and/or repair of water distribution or wastewater collection systems.
• Valid Alaska CDL Class B with Tank endorsement.
• State of Alaska Water Distribution I and Wastewater Collection I Operator certificates.
• Satisfactory background check, education, and employment history at time of hire.
• Satisfactory drug screening at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate water distribution and wastewater collection systems, with preventive and corrective maintenance as assigned.
• Work independently with increasing responsibility as proficiency and licensing increase.
• Handle shift variations including early mornings, days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, including emergencies.
• Assist in training and lead duties for Level IV as assigned.

Education
