Job summary

Green City Growers in Somerville, MA, seeks a production farmer for our sites in Boston and surrounding areas. This seasonal full-time role offers 40 hours per week through late November, with overtime limited during peak times.

Training in GCG horticultural practices is provided and growth opportunities exist within an ESOP-driven, employee-owned company. The role involves planting, cultivating, spraying, and harvesting across regional sites, plus maintaining on-site infrastructure.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of farming or professional garden work.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on site needs.
• Driver’s license and good driving record.
• Local candidates preferred.

Responsibilities

• Farm vegetable production across the region; plant, cultivate, spray, and harvest.
• Move up to 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions.
• Travel to sites from Somerville office in company vehicle, including RI and NH.
• Represent GCG on-site and communicate with clients and participants.
• Lead occasional informational programs with participants on-site.
• Document tasks and site needs; use Google Drive and record-keeping programs.
