Job summary

The National Park Service in Ohio seeks a Seasonal Maintenance Worker (Trails) to perform upkeep, repair and construction of walls, bridges, trails and related park structures. Work includes carpentry with heavy timber, and use of power and hand tools, including chainsaws.

Anticipated entry on duty is March–July 2027; the posted pay range is $29.66–$34.62 per hour. Applicants are evaluated under Federal Wage System guidelines, with seasonal scheduling dependent on project needs and weather.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance, repair and construction of walls, bridge abutments, causeways, trail tread, and other similar structures.
• Carpentry work with heavy log and rough-sawn timbers and lumber.
• Construction on buildings, walkways, hitch rails, and other park structures.
• Using both power and hand tools, including chainsaws.
• Maintenance work on the Cuyahoga Valley National Scenic Railroad: equipment operations, mowing, clearing line of sight, tree trimming and removal.
• Subject to mandatory pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing per FRA regulations.
