Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal Experienced Tax Professional to prepare accurate returns, advise clients, and uncover tax savings opportunities in a busy local office. You’ll interview clients, explain complex concepts in plain language, and build lasting relationships while delivering high-quality service.

The role emphasizes in-person client work, training, and use of leading tax software. Prior tax experience and a relevant credential are preferred, with ongoing education required.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including preparing individual and business returns.
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain tax concepts clearly.
• Must meet continuing education and IRS/state requirements; high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with complex tax situations.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand finances and tax implications.
• Provide personalized recommendations and identify tax savings opportunities.
• Offer IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive, client-focused office environment.
